Anne writes: "The lyrics for this song began writing themselves while I was busy listening to a new song by Lucy Wainwright Roche on YouTube. When they had finished pouring out, I revisited her song to find nothing similar in theme or rhythmic pattern. Still, not wanting to unconsciously copy another artist's work I called on my friend Ilene Weiss, who was coming into town to do a show with me. I texted her the words and she arrived with enough melodic structure to pull the song into the world and have its premiere that evening. Almost one year later, I sang "Everything Matters" for the closing ceremony of Touchstone's Festival Unbound. It's written for those moments when we might need some encouragement, self-forgiveness and hope."
